It has been a while since the release of my album Colour Dreams in Nov 2015. Between then and now, I have been invited to play my compositions in this album, together with my piano covers for private events. I have always enjoyed playing in a ‘salon’ style with my patrons and their guests around me, sometimes joining me along clapping hands, or humming familiar tunes!
Playing publicly on the street is far away from my mind…until…
One of my friend, Mr Yanchang Lee, approached me with the idea to share my music to the public by playing on public pianos. This is not unusual in Europe, but it is a new social movement in Singapore led by him and two other founders. There are a few ideas tagging along this movement – to bring life to urban environment through piano music, to give life to old pianos after little refurbishments, and to give platforms to artistes to reach their audience in intimate manner. To me, then these are plenty of good reasons to support this new social movement in Singapore!
And I played on a beautiful Sunday afternoon along Singapore River Promenade!
